CloseThis is a recording from the 9:30 service at Christ Church Cove where we continued our series in Ephesians with Ephesians 6 v 10 to 20.
The questions of the week for this passage are:
Ephesians 6:1-4
1. Who are the people who have parented us in our faith? This may be our biological parents or others. Thank God for them and all they have done for you.
2. Paul asks us to bring up children with training and instruction in the faith. This is important in our families with our children and grandchildren but also who are the people that we can be a spiritual parent to, who we can encourage, teach and demonstrate our faith to? Whether they are young in age or young in the faith. If there is no one you can think of ask God to show you someone who you can come alongside and support on their journey.
3. The passage addresses both children and parents, Paul addressing children in the society at the time would have been unusual. He reminds us of the commandment to honour our parents. The outworking of this commandment looks different throughout the ages and stages of our lives. If our parents are still alive, what are the challenges and encouragements for you personally as you honour your parents at the moment? Reflect upon your own journey in this area - what are the things you want to bring to God in prayer for thanks giving, areas we want to see breakthrough in and hurt or regret to be healed.
