Job Purpose

To plan, supervise and support organisational and administration activities for the Parish


Nominated member of clergy

Responsible for

Effective administrative procedures and processes for Parish of Cove administrative activities


Operations manager, Incumbent, other clergy, parish administrator, ad-hoc team leading

Hours and Place of work

You will be expected to work an average of 20 hours a week on weekdays during the hours of 09:00 to 17:00 with a preference for morning hours. There may be the need for additional hours or occasional weekends by agreement.

Your workplace will be mainly in the Parish Office but variable depending on the activity but limited to the church buildings, Parish Hall and grounds within the Parish.



  • Meetings with clergy and parish staff to identify priorities
  • Filing system - document control, storage, archiving including Microsoft Teams
  • Facilities support - request quotations, submit Faculty applications, give support to Area Lead
  • Parish Hall bookings, hire agreements and invoicing
  • Supervisor for Parish Administrator role and cleaning staff
  • GDPR records - support to Parish Data Controller
  • Baptism, Wedding & Funeral arrangements - including liaison with family, clergy and parish staff/ contacts
  • Maintain and update checklists for Occasional Services - for enquirer and parish.
  • Grant funding applications


  • On-line banking - pay invoices and expenses
  • Petty cash-box management
  • Responding to general enquiries - phone, email, letter
  • General office activities – ad hoc support to Parish Administrator
  • Other duties agreed in advance with the supervisor

English language GCSE or equivalent

A Christian working in a church environment. (This role carries an occupational requirement to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010)

A satisfactory DBS check

A baptised and confirmed member of the Anglican Church

Terms and Conditions: Full terms and conditions are defined in the Parish Staff Handbook.

Sick Pay: This role qualifies for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

Holiday allowance: This role qualifies for statutory annual leave as defined in the Working Time Regulations (1998). For 20 hours per week this would be 112 hours per annum. This leave is to be taken before the end of the calendar year in which it is accumulated.

Pension: This role qualifies for Workplace Pension contributions by the Parish of Cove.
