Safeguarding is about building relationships together. In Cove we feel it is important that everyone feels welcome and safe, whatever their age and need. To help with this, we have a team who oversee both children and vulnerable adults across the parish: Jacquie Snuggs is our safeguarding officer; she is supported in this by representatives from each of the three Churches. They are Liz Griffiths (St Christopher’s), Daphne Williams (Southwood church) and Elaine Bateman (St John’s). Each member of this safeguarding team is available to speak with you about any issues or concerns that you might have. Please contact the Church Office if you would like to be put in touch with one of them.
Across the parish we have a team of volunteers who help with the children, young people and vulnerable adults in their groups and activities. Each person on the team has to complete an application form, a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and a disclosure form. We offer appropriate training to all who join our team.
We are committed to IN SAFE HANDS
, the safeguarding policy for the Diocese of Guildford. This is reviewed annually by the PCC. In all our work with children, young people and vulnerable adults we follow guidelines based on Diocesan guidelines. The Safeguarding Officer is happy to discuss this should you have any questions.
If you need to talk to someone outside of our parish, please contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser - Ian Berry - firstname.lastname@example.org
