Welcome to St John’s, Cove!

We are a church family with members whose ages range from 0 to over 85 years, and we aim to provide worship and activities that are relevant to all.  The primary aim of all that we do at St John’s is to build a loving and growing community centred on Christ – primarily as we help people find, develop or deepen their friendship with God and to help them deepen their friendship with one another.

We hope that our website will provide some useful information about us as a church and that you will find enough here to encourage you to come and see for yourself…

What happens during the week?

Life Groups

St John's has a house group network (Life Groups), where members of the church family meet to study the Bible, enjoy friendship and fellowship as well as praying for one another. Through these Life Groups, we seek to provide sustainable care and connection, accountability and spiritual formation here at St John’s. We have groups that meet weekly or fortnightly, daytime or in the evening. If you would like more information about what is involved or if you would like to join a Life Group, please do get in touch. Click here for details.

Little Fishes

The St John’s church family warmly welcomes children, with all the joy (and chaos!) that they bring. In addition to the activities we provide on a Sunday morning, we run a baby and toddler group, ‘Little Fishes’, also known as ‘Little Dishes’ because of its reputation for providing homemade cakes!

The wider Community

As part of our vision at St John's Church, we want to be at the centre of our community – reaching out in love and service. For instance, in October 2015, we hosted a Multi-Agency event to mark Mental Health Day. This saw the Launch of Open Door – a “drop-in” for those isolated by mental health difficulties or struggling to cope with life for whatever reason.

We enjoy good relationships in the community, especially with St John's Court Residential Home, Cove Infant School and the numerous users of St John's Hall. We have become famous for our outdoor seasonal displays at Easter, Pentecost and Christmas, which have become part of the Curriculum in 5 local schools.

St John's also hosts a good programme of social events to which all our welcome
(please see our year planner for more details).
