Church Life

Lots of Ways to Get Involved in The Parish of Cove

Life is for sharing… and we all know that many hands make light work (and often we make many memories together too). At Parish of Cove we believe ministry is also for sharing and we all get to play our part in what God is doing among us. So whether you make best cuppa in town, or a dab hand with paint brush or a passion for preaching we would love to find a place for you to share your gifts, talents and willing hands so together we can see God do great things through us and in us.

The best way to join a team is to contact the person who leads the team or get in contact with either the church office or clergy who can connect you. If you are new to the church and wonder where there is a ‘you’ shape area of ministry then contact the clergy who would be happy to chat about this further with you.

Joining a team is one of the best ways to get to know people, grow in your own faith journey.

Home Groups

Homegroups are a great place to get to know others and grow in faith together. We
meet to study the Bible, socialise and pray for one another.

Our small groups meet in homes or the church at different days and times
throughout the week. If you would be interested in joining a small group then please contact Gemma Foster HERE

Gemma Foster

Gemma Foster

Priest-in-Charge, Rector (designate)

Gemma is married to J and they have 2 children Imogen & Joel. Gemma didn’t grow up in the church but came to faith in her teens before going on to study at London School of Theology. After this she joined staff team of Soul Survivor Watford Church as an Assistant Pastor where she remained for almost 11 years, during this time she felt called to Ordination so left to do a curacy at St Paul’s Letchworth Garden City & All Saints in Willian. Gemma moved to Cove in Spring 2019 and is really excited about the future here in the Parish of Cove with the unification, launch of Christ Church and strengthening the family ties between Christ Church and St John’s as we move into this next chapter together. She is also working on a PhD looking at faith development and discipleship in young adults. Gemma is passionate about creating environments where people can engage with God, experience being part of a community and grow in their faith to become authentic disciples of Jesus. Gemma’s signature style is coffee mug in hand and chatting to someone.

Steve Stewart

Steve Stewart

Priest, Associate Rector (designate)

Steve is married to Amanda, and they have three children (Shona, Tamsin, now with the Lord, and Hetty). Steve became a Christian at 17, not only rejoicing in my salvation but, over the years, by God’s grace, having my faith ever more strengthened by the overwhelming weight of forensic evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is indeed the Lord and the Christ. Prior to receiving a dog collar, Steve trained as an engineer, had careers in finance training, procurement and IT. During this time, Steve also led church youth groups, camps, holiday clubs and the church worship band, among many other ministries. Following his training at Oak Hill Theological College, Steve had a great curacy in Norwich, and has served in Cove since 2004, first as a Team Vicar and since 2019 as Associate Rector. Steve has a passion for Bible teaching and preaching to mature all in Christ, and is reading for a PhD looking at The Role of the Law of Moses in the Fourth Gospel. He enjoys great company and food, playing and listening to music, techy stuff and a good laugh.

Gemma and Steve’s latest Video

Gemma and Steve’s special Christ Church Cove launch video.

The official launch of Christ Church Cove took place on Sunday 22nd September. Bishop Andrew Watson joined us to celebrate all that God has done here in Cove and also as we look to the future and the new things he is doing among us. It was an evening of worship, testimony, thanksgiving, teaching and vision for the future.
