Why bother with church at all?

 

There is a lot of pressure today to believe that the Good News (the Gospel) of Jesus Christ is no longer important in society. We'd disagree!

 

What Jesus gave us has shaped human experience at its best and most creative and most fulfilling. Jesus Christ is the most important person that ever lived:

• What he had to say were the most important words ever spoken

• What he did was the most important thing ever done

• Everything he said and did has huge importance for us today

• Jesus makes knowing God possible

• Jesus is the reason for church

• Jesus transforms lives for the good

But not only did Jesus live then: He died, He rose again from the dead, and He is alive today -and He did this that we might live with Him!

 

In the 21st Century many people are aware that much of daily life seems incredibly demanding, tough and even ultimately unsatisfying: but we believe that Jesus came to be among us to be 'the light of the world' to make sense of the darkness that seems to be all around us in society, politics and the environment.

 

Jesus tells us in the Bible that he came “that we might have life, and life in all its fullness”. He also said “Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. We believe these things, and are convinced it applies to everyone, whoever they are, whatever they are.
