Christian basics courses at Cove

At Cove we run a number of courses to help you explore the Christian faith. Here are details of a couple ...

Alpha

Alpha has become a very popular course in recent years, which millions around the world have enjoyed. Alpha sessions usually start with a meal, then we examine some aspect of Christian faith, with a chance to ask questions and discuss what we've heard. Alpha is an excellent course for those who are seeking to gain or deepen their knowledge of the Christian faith. Alpha often takes place in someone's home, though lately a couple of courses have proven so popular that we've had to run them in the Southwood Infants school hall! Check out the main Alpha website for more about the course generally.

Just for Starters (J4S)

J4S is a Bible Study course based around some short Bible passages (just one or two verses). They run for 7 weeks, often on a Saturday morning in the home of one of our church family, and each session lasts about an hour. It's a chance to look at some of the basics of the Christian faith, such as the Cross, prayer, the Bible, how to live as a Christian, the Holy Spirit etc. The course is very informal and relaxed, and an opportunity to do some good Bible study. It's suitable both for those who are new to Christianity and for those who have been Christians for a while -and don't worry if you haven't got a Bible: there are plenty to go round!

The ‘Y’ Course

It is called The Y Course simply because Y and ‘why’ are so similar, and the course is about life's big questions. The course recognises that life's biggest questions have their turning point in God himself. The course last 8 weeks and look at issues such as:

Is there more to life than this? Can anyone really know what God is like? Are we expected to believe what happened so long ago? If Jesus was so good, why was he executed? Why so much suffering and so many religions? Can one religion be right out of so many? Is there really life after death? Who wants to be stuck with A bunch of boring old rules? The Y Course website has more details.
